Hexagonal prototile
Minimum rotation: &pi/3
Generating polyform: 48-iamond
This entire f-tiling forms a classical fractal known as the Koch snowflake, or Koch island. This shape is usually generated by a very different process.
A three dimensional sculpture could be created from many of the f-tilings in the Compendium. The thickness could be varied across the prototile in such a way that the surfaces match up in edge-to-edge fashion. Such a three-dimensional prototile is shown below for this particular f-tiling, along with a portion of the three-dimensional sculpture. The thickness scale is independent of the in-plane scale of the sculpture.
