Turn-of-the-Century Viennese Patterns & Designs
$11.95
Stunning sourcebook of 60 full-page, copyright-free designs by Viennese artist Koloman Moser — 30 in full color and 30 in black-and-white—depict a marvelous selection of allover, subtly colored patterns for textiles, wallpaper, rugs, and wall hangings. Imaginative, Art Nouveau-inspired renderings of ferns, flowers, berries, human figures, masks, exotic dancers and a host of other subjects, reprinted from an extremely rare portfolio by a modern master. Several of these designs are either tessellations or nearly tessellations of lifelike motifs, prefiguring M.C. Escher's work by decades. 64 pages, 9-1/4" x 12-1/4".

"Fractal Trees"
$19.95
In this book, by combining photographic imagery with iteration, the mathematical process at the heart of fractals, Robert Fathauer explores his unique vision of a nature that is even more fractal than the real world. These creations include a fern-like tree built from the stem of a rose bush, an infinite collection of spirals formed from the skeleton of a cholla cactus, and a tree whose outline resembles a maple leaf. Thirteen different trees are shown in two page spreads, and six randomized fractal trees are shown as well. The book also includes a section on the method used to create the trees and notes on the individual trees. Included are three classroom worksheets that teachers can copy, covering branching of fractal trees, trees in nature, and infinite series. By Robert Fathauer. 52 pages, 8-1/2" x 11".
